22 Months ~Amelia~

This month has been a bit more quiet… and cold!  We’ve enjoyed outside time when we can but otherwise we are cooped up trying to find inside activities to keep us busy.  We installed a fireplace in our basement and we’ve gotten a lot more use out of the space down there.

Growth:
Weight:  25.8 lbs
Height:  33.5”
Amelia is in 24 month and 2T items but I am getting the itch for rummage season because there are quite a few 24 month and some 2T items she has outgrown.  Diapers are still a size 4 and shoes a size 5-6.

Mobility/Coordination:  Amelia’s coordination gets better by the day.  She loves doing puzzles and is pretty good at the big, chunky ones.  We’ve noticed when she eats (when being the key word), she uses her left hand with a spoon.  However, when it comes to coloring she scribbles with her right.

Language/Communication:  Chatter, chatter, chatter!  Some is more recognizable than others but some favorites include playing the name game.  She likes to name various objects (coat, hat, mittens = “me me”) and will take you by the hand to point at something and name it.  She says thank you and you’re welcome in the proper context.  She adores “Rolo” the guinea pig at daycare and squeals “Rolo!!!”  It is also adorable how she follows Grant around and says “Gant” over and over.

Personality/Amelia-isms:  Amelia has settled into quite the daddy’s girl lately.  She gathers her blankie and her dog and curls up on daddy’s lap.  It also never fails that the minute she is strapped in her car seat she rips her hat and mittens off and throws them as far as she can.  Not really a fun game when we are in a hurry in the mornings and I am hunting for hat and mittens.

I think I say it nearly every month but this girl has some spunk and it is so fun to see her personality continue to grow.  She is usually happy and energetic and extremely observant.

Sleep:  No news here… One nap in the afternoon and then bed at 6:30-7 and sleeping through the night.

Eating:  If there were one phase I wish was over it would be our battles at meal time.  Nearly every night Amelia flat out refuses to eat.  She has even cut way back on her milk intake.  I’m telling you… I am not making broccoli and brussel sprouts every night keeping my fingers crossed she’ll eat them.  She. Doesn’t. Eat. Supper.  We also refuse to play the if you won’t eat what I cooked let me find something you want to eat game.  She is thriving and definitely not wasting away.  She typically eats a large breakfast and a decent lunch portion but just doesn’t like eating supper.

We have found that Amelia likes dipping her food in something even if it is a banana in cereal milk or pickle in ketchup.

Teeth:  No news here.

Illnesses/Owies:  Knock on wood but it has been a quiet month.  Amelia had a bit of a loose cough for about a week and now she has a clear, runny nose.

Brother/Sister Moment(s):  Amelia and Grant were playing together when Amelia threw one of Grant’s toys.  Grant told her to go sit in timeout and she listened to him!  It was slightly comical.

In this moment as Amelia is dumping water over Grant's head, he said "She's baptizing me!  She's John the Baptist!"

Firsts/Adventures:  Nothing really to report here.  It was a rather dull but enjoyable month

Likes:  dressing up as Doc McStuffins ~ taking pictures ~ taking her shirt off (usually at the dinner table ~ taking hat and mittens off the minute you put them on ~ pouring her milk out and smearing it on the table ~ sucking her thumb ~ blankie ~ reading ~ dog ~ coloring ~ trying to get dressed

Dislikes:  bananas ~ getting her nose wiped ~ being told no ~ eating at dinner ~ empty milk cups ~ wearing hat and mittens ~ wearing socks

Toddler Moment(s):  There was one week this month where Amelia had about 3-5 biting incidents.  We’re not sure what sparked them but maybe it was just a crabby week.

Potty Training:  We’ve had a couple more successful potty attempts but she still isn’t overly interested in it.
