This was the best we could do again! She never sits still anymore. |
Weight: 20 lbs according to our scale (up over 1 ½ lbs in the last month!)
Height: No official measurement this month but I would guess roughly 28”
Amelia
is still wearing 12 month clothing, size 3 diapers and size 3 shoes
(occasionally).
Mobility/Coordination: Mobility really hasn’t changed much other than
Amelia is getting faster and is everywhere. She lets go of furniture occasionally, stands
balanced momentarily, seemingly realizes she isn’t holding on and plops to her
butt or grabs onto something for dear life.
There was one instance last weekend where she stood completely balanced
without holding on to anything for about 15-20 seconds. When holding her hands to help her walk, she
can easily hold on with just one hand and walk next to you.
She's a handful |
And you can't take your eyes off of her... EVER! |
Her fine motor is really good and she has no
problem eating and picking up just one piece of food at a time. Everything still naturally goes right to her
mouth.
Language/Communication: Babble has been about the same this month but
she is starting to string various jibberish consonant sounds together. Instead of “ah ba” she has gravitated towards
“ah ya” for her go to sound this month. She
also loves mocking us and clicking her tongue.
She still signs “all done” and is beginning to use “more” which looks
more like clapping. Yesterday at daycare they said she signed and said "ah dah." Amelia’s laugh is something along the lines of Beavis and Butthead as we like to joke. It comes out more like “huh huh-huh huh.”
Personality/Amelia-isms:
I talk about Amelia’s
personality which is normally very fun, happy, and laid back. That is still the case but as I mentioned she
still has that sassy side. Most recently
we have been referring to her as the “bear.”
It’s a normal nightly routine that she wants to eat supper by 5:30 at
the latest, immediately drink a bottle or more milk, and then she wants to go
to bed. If this doesn’t happen, she
squawks and gets fussy and not so pleasant.
She squeals or screams very loud if you get in her
space or if Grant or another child take her toy or something she wants. She also loves crawling around carrying a toy
in her mouth.
Mad because I wouldn't let her go head first down the stairs |
Sleep: Naps have pretty much diminished to twice per day. Occasionally, she sneaks in an afternoon nap
still. Bed time is 6:30 or 7 and if she
isn’t in bed with a full tummy by then we see the “bear” come out if she hasn’t
gotten a late afternoon cat nap.
Feeding: The breastmilk stash
is officially gone as of last week. She
hasn’t had an issue with it. She is still
drinking 3-4 bottles per day and we are actually seeing her drop her bed time
bottle or drinking much less of it. I
don’t think she will have any issues transitioning from bottle to cup in the
next two months or less because this little girl can pack the food away. There are many
instances where she eats more than Grant.
Her current schedule usually goes something like this:
bottle upon waking (5:15 am work days, about 7 am non work days), 7:30-8
am breakfast with sippy, nap, 10 am bottle, 11-11:30 am lunch with sippy, nap,
3:00 pm snack with sippy/bottle, 5:30 pm dinner, 6:15 pm bottle/sippy, 6:30-7
pm bed.
Teeth: Shortly after last month’s post Amelia popped
another tooth (lower, left lateral incisor).
It was an extremely busy tooth time the last several weeks. She got 5
teeth in 26 days bringing her
grand total to 7 teeth.
Her monster adult size baby teeth! |
Illnesses: Early in the month she had more ear drainage from both ears that looked
like pure snot coming out of them J I
am not sure whether they were actually infected or not but we treated with
drops and it took about a week of ear drops and her runny nose/mild cough
clearing up before the ears cleared up.
Not sure what caused it this month but she also had
diaper rash for about 4 days which is not normal at all for her. Occasionally she will get a slightly red
bottom but this was an angry red, baboon bottom with a couple open areas that
weeped and oozed. A little coconut oil
and lavender essential oil did the trick though!
Brother/Sister
Moment(s): Grant loves feeding
Amelia and has now tried to pick her up on a couple occasions so we have to
keep our eyes out for that!
Firsts: Valentine’s Day although it was relatively uneventful she got to try a
little chocolate and received a couple 1st Valentine’s Day
cards. Grant reading Amelia her Valentine's Day card |
Splashing in the dog water is fun!!! |
Preferred carrying method while crawling |
Dislikes: being
hungry/tired ~ getting a toy taken away ~ being confined
Happy 10 months Miss Amelia Grace!
